Welcome to Chapel End Infant School & Early Years Centre!

At Chapel End we have a wonderful environment into which we welcome your child for the start of their education.  We aim for the time your child spends with us to be happy and successful and provide a firm foundation on which they can build for the future.  In order to achieve this we firmly believe that home and school should work together and we look forward to a positive and supportive relationship with you – the parents and carers.

Your child will be taught by highly committed teachers and early years practitioners who encourage a high standard of achievement and individual development in a secure and supportive atmosphere.  Our most recent OFSTED (June 2017) stated that the leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the previous inspection, establishing a strong learning atmosphere that provides pupils with an oasis of calm. As a result, pupils are positive about learning and enjoy helping each other in class.

Our nursery provides part-time education nursery places and full-time day-care places for 2 , 3 and 4 year olds.

If you are unable to find the information that you are looking for on our website please do not hesitate to contact the school directly.

    World Book Day
Good morning, Please remember that tomorrow is World Book Day and we are inviting the children to wear a costume to represent their favourite book character. There are lots of creative ways to make your own costume, so please don't feel that you have to buy anything new. One of the easiest ways, is to decorate or draw on an old T-shirt. Also, we are pleased to be welcoming parents into school tomorrow to visit their child's class and share books and stories with the children. Parents can stay until 9.40am. Please come into school via the main entrance. One parent per family please and if possible, please do not bring small children unless this is unavoidable as the classrooms may become quite crowded. We are looking forward to a very exciting day, celebrating our love of books and stories and we hope that you can join us for part of it. Thank you.

    COVID-19 risk assessment update
Good afternoon, I am pleased to report that we have seen a significant reduction in the number of positive cases in school over the last week. For this reason, public health have advised that children who have a positive case in their household, can attend school as long as the child attending is having regular, negative lateral flow tests and is not displaying any of the three main symptoms of coronavirus. Please remember that if your child is displaying a new continuous/persistent cough, a high temperature/fever, a loss of sense of smell or taste, then they must have a PCR test, not a lateral flow test. Thank you. Ms Chaplin Headteacher

    Important COVID-19 update
Dear Parents/Carers, As you may be aware, we have had rising numbers of COVID-19 cases across the school during the last two weeks - 22 cases in 10 days. There are now more cases than at any time during the last two years. It is very important that we are all vigilant and test regularly to prevent any further cases coming into school. We are working closely with Waltham Forest Public Health and have taken all the precautions that we can in school. Can I please ask you to observe the two actions for parents below that have been agreed with Public Health. 1. Today the Stay Safe Champions will be at the school gates at home time distributing Lateral Flow Tests, please test your child this evening and again on Sunday evening. Please see the letter attached for more information regarding this. 2. At the present time, following advice from Public Health, we need to ask all families who have a positive case of COVID-19 in their household to keep their children at home. This is a temporary arrangement and will be reviewed on a weekly basis. I will write to you when this advice changes, but in the meantime, please do not send children to school if you have a positive case in your household Please inform the school office and request remote learning for your child. Please see the letter attached from Public Health. Thank you for all your support to keep our school community safe. Janice Chaplin Headteacher
